Garston Cultural Village is just one project which has been promoted at one of our Breakfast Briefings

What a 12 months 2005 was for Merseyside! We saw the reappearance of the Mersey Wave, the winning of the Champions League and the start of work on Liverpool's own Arena and Conference Centre. And here in the south of the city we checked off a significant milestone of our own.

The end of 2005 marked the first anniversary of the Business Leaders' decision to set up as an independent, self-financing organisation dedicated to supporting the interests of the business community in the south of the city. It's been a busy time - and a successful one.

Our first year activities included:

  • Breakfast Briefings increased from four to six per year
  • valuable sponsorship from Business Link, Lloyds TSB and Partnership for Learning
  • top-line speakers including Keith Wyness, chief executive of Everton FC
  • recognition from BusinessLiverpool as the authentic voice of South Liverpool business
  • contribution to planning of Capital of Culture Business Club
  • launch of e-bulletin scheme for members
  • launch of members' promotional scheme
  • thorough survey of business security
  • inauguration of award scheme

As we move into our second year we are looking forward to building up our membership, staging successful Briefings featuring influential speakers, and getting involved with further initiatives to benefit our members and the wider business community.

THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT THROUGHOUT OUR FIRST YEAR. NOW, HERE'S TO THE FUTURE!
