Business Leaders

Welcome to the home page of South Liverpool Business Leaders, the organisation which speaks up for business in South Liverpool! We provide a forum for problems and issues to be discussed. We lobby key decision-makers on behalf of the business community. We organise briefings and other events, encourage firms to take a wider view of their responsibilities to the community and facilitate networking.

HELPING OUR COMMUNITY: Ten member companies teamed up to sponsor junior football for the next two seasons. This top-of-the-table clash in the South Liverpool Business Leaders Junior League ended in a 2-0 win for Booker over Dingle Villa.

South Liverpool Business Leaders is boosting profits for members who take advantage of the networking opportunities on offer.

Corporate clothing firm Ioma and accountancy experts Group 2020 are just two companies who have attracted new business after making presentations at Breakfast Briefings.

Members are eligible to make a one-minute presentation at the start of each of the group's bi-monthly get-togethers. Three members are drawn at random ahead of each event - and it was a lucky result for Ioma MD Paul Levinson when his name came out of the hat.

Paul made his pitch on the day that Everton FC chief executive Keith Wyness was there as a guest speaker. After mentioning that his company supplies corporate wear to another major club close to Stanley Park, Blues fan Paul was on his way to clinching a contract.

"That event was a wonderful opportunity for me to put our company name in front of a potential client," said Paul. "It wasn't the sole reason why we won the contract but it definitely helped."

Ioma duly signed a contract to supply all Everton's corporate uniforms, from front office to hotdog sellers.

Julie Irving of Group 2020 is another member who reported a dramatic result. Julie spoke at the Business Leaders' January Briefing and said later: "The fact that the slot was limited to just one minute made me focus on the message and as a result it came across very positively. Two companies approached me afterwards. One has already become a client and I'm in discussions with the other. It was a very successful experience."

Other members are seeing benefits from their involvement with the group. Charlie Lambert of media firm Northern River Productions said: "The Business Leaders group has been by far the most productive networking organisation that I've been involved with.We have received commissions for promotional DVDs and other media work thanks to contacts made at Business Leaders events, and that work has in turn introduced us to even more business."

The news was warmly received by Business Leaders chair Dr Joe Adamson. "Our group receives no public funding and is run by members for members," he said. "The fact that companies are seeing tangible benefits to their bottom line is proof that the business community of South Liverpool is going from strength to strength."
