As part of their VCE Travel and Tourism (Double Award) sixth form students at New Heys Community School, Allerton, were required to arrange an event involving a wider group than their immediate peers. The students came up with the idea of organising a day out based on the Liverpool waterfront, incorporating as many different forms of transport as possible. They wanted participants to visit two local attractions during the day.

Building on their school's close links with Gilmour Infant School, the sixth form students decided to arrange the visit for a class of Year 2 pupils, their teacher, classroom assistants and parents.
