At Gilmour Infant School we value all our pupils equally, whilst also valuing their right to be different and excel in different ways. We expect the children to work hard, enjoy school life and to observe school code conduct and rules. We want our pupils to be good community members who car for one another and their surroundings. We encourage them to become independent self directed learners and to experience the joy of learning throughout their lives. We want them to have self esteem, to be proud of their efforts and so produce within themselves the conditions for success. In order to achieve what we want for our pupils, we work together as a whole staff and in year groups for curriculum planning, to support individual pupils, to share and learn from each other and to monitor and evaluate our provision regularly. We believe that all children can be successful learners and that children, parents, staff and governors should be involved together in the learning process. Betty Wylie |
Posing Statues The children measured and studied each other in various poses. They then used a variety of materials including cardboard, newspaper and masking tape to create the life size figures. Modrock was mixed and used to cover the figures and finally the details were painted. The fantastic statues are now in the displayed in school for children, staff and visitors to enjoy! | |
Gilmour School Community Centre
Gilmour Community Centre runs a very popular Parent and Toddler Group every Tuesday afternoon. There is a waiting list for places so put your name down now to avoid disappointment. Also held within the centre is Gilmour Breakfast Club where children can chose from a variety of healthy breakfasts. The Community Centre is available to hire for business functions/meetings. For further information contact Jackie Murray, Centre Manager on 0151-427 6306 after 12.00pm. ICT Suite To support the teaching and learning there is also an interactive whiteboard that was purchased as a result of a generous donation from Ford on Britain Trust. Lord David Puttnam officially opened the suite in February 2001. Electronically controlled programmable toys, such as the "Roamer" are also used to explore and develop expertise in control technology. School Library Music |
