I feel privileged to be headteacher of St Ambrose Catholic Primary School and to serve the Catholic families of east Speke, and would like to assure everybody that all the staff at the school are dedicated to ensuring that all of our children enjoy their primary school days and achieve their full potential. Our well resourced school is situated in the southernmost part of Liverpool, in fact the school building is the last building in Liverpool before you reach Halton! The children are a joy to teach and the staff work extremely hard to ensure that as well as the teaching that goes on, relationships, attitudes and behaviour are good, in order to continue to raise standards of achievement and self esteem. In 1999 there was a major reorganisation to remove surplus places and the infant and nursery building was demolished and now all of the foundation stage, key stage one and key stage two children are accommodated in the one building. We currently have approximately 250 children on the roll of the school. As a school we are aware that we have clear responsibilities:

At St Ambrose we believe in the benefits of extra curricular activities and participate in many out of school sporting and non sporting activities. We currently have teams participating in cross country running, badminton, rounders, football, tag rugby, indoor athletics. On various days each week we also run a variey of after school clubs in a number of disciplines including: drama, homework, art, design and technology and music.

The school is set in extensive grounds on the southern outskirts of the city. Both the infant and junior departments are now located in one building and in 2004 we invested in a state of the art computer suite. A breakfast club is run on a daily basis and many extra curricular activities take place. We have close links with the local adult education college and run many courses for our parents and the local community throughout the year.
