At Gilmour Infant School we value all our pupils equally, whilst also valuing their right to be different and excel in different ways. We expect the children to work hard, enjoy school life and to observe the school code conduct and rules.

We want our pupils to be good community members who care for one another and their surroundings. We encourage them to become independent, self-directed learners and to experience the joy of learning throughout their lives. We want them to have self-esteem, to be proud of their efforts and so produce within themselves the conditions for success.

In order to achieve what we want for our pupils we work together as a whole staff and in year groups for curriculum planning, to support individual pupils, to share and learn from each other and to monitor and evaluate our provision regularly.

We know that children learn best and succeed when
